rain, graduation and MORE rain!!

ok.. so you would think that a school that charges tuition amounts of well over $25,000 per year would have an alternative plan for graduation JUST IN CASE it started raining and the parking lot wouldn't do.. you would think that, right? well.. you'd be wrong!! i'm not kidding now.. i think it was one of the most chaotic graduations ever.. but you know what.. it was fun.. and it "fit".. this is an art school afterall.. so they do things differently.. and i have to say that it was evident in EVERYTHING just how different RISD is.. from the speeches made at graduation (lots of symbolic references to constipation and the need for fiber - no joke) to the way the students decorated their gowns (ripped in shreds for example).. and to those that decided to just do away with the whole gown thing and wear bikinis instead (in like 50 degree / rainy weather).. i am NOT kidding here!!! :)

now that you all have a visual i can go on.. but in all seriousness, it was great.. dima had her supporters there flying in or driving in from all over the place.. lebanon, miami, kentucky,nyc and los angeles.. fun times.. exhausting as well.. here's how it went for me.. (you should skip this part if you don't want to fall asleep)

i flew out on thursday night, arriving to nyc at about 7:30 am (i don't sleep on flights, btw).. got to pinky's place and rushed her out the door so we could get down to manhattan to get the last parts of dima's gift.. got that done.. and by 10:50 got on a train to newburgh to pick up brendan's car.. got there at like 12:15.. dropped him off at work and got on the road.. a 3-hour drive.. we drove and drove and drove.. stopped at this diner in cromwell (shout out to you D!!) and finally got to Rhode Island at about 5:00.. that night we went out to dinner and back to dima's place.. so we could get to bed and wake up early for the graduation.. next day spent like 3 hours in the rain.. went out for lunch.. got back to dima's place so we could chill out before going out for dinner.. watched southpark (won't you come up my wishing treeeee - SHAMONA!) Ahahahahahah.. oh wow.. if you saw that episode, you're laughing now :) Anyway.. back to my extravaganza.. went out for dinner.. then drinks.. then back home.. got to bed at about 2:30.. woke up at 7.. took a shower.. got back on the road.. drove for about 3 hours.. went out for lunch.. hopped on the train to NYC.. hung out for about an hour.. hopped on the next train to JFK.. landed in Vegas which is SUPER INSANE even at 12:00 am!! And finally.. made it back home at about 1:45.. and was in bed by 2:15.. phewwwwwwwwww.. my hands are about to fall offffff - still awake?? :P

and that's how it went for me.. now i need to get home and try to fix the apartment that the roomie and i rushed out of on thursday night.. fun fun fun.. and i'll also be seeing southern comfort tonight! :) so, that will be fun, i have no doubt.. my pirate mama was supposed to be flying in on wednesday.. but she'll be going to nyc instead.. so i might be going down to san diego.. one of my best friends from college is interviewing down there this week.. so we'll see how that goes :)
k.. back to work for me.. i've been on a rampage since i got in.. so i thought i'd take this little break.. break's up..
